It is a great start to finish app and whatever features it might be missing? I don't think they existed in 2004 when I last did any real learning on Photoshop tools and I am not missing. I have a gigantic library and have not migrated yet). And while many people says it does 90% of what they need, for me it does 100% (well that is not totally true, there are some things like cloning that I still like for some situations in Aperture.yes I know, it is dead, sue me. It reminds me a lot of Photoshop in it's feature set.but it just feels "friendly". I tried out Acorn (which I really did like and they are worth a look) but for reasons lost to memory I ended up going with Pixelmatr as my primary editing app.

A few years ago when the last licensed copy of Photoshop I had (4 maybe?) would no longer work on the current Mac OS I was desperate for another editing application. But since the early 90's I have used Photoshop in many iterations because any of the other programs (that is how old I am I call them programs not apps) just did not fit the bill. But I am no-where near a pro and there are still some features I have never bothered to explore in Photoshop. I consider myself an advanced photo imaging enthusiast.

  • Fixed an issue where the app would quit unexpectedly when using Export for Web.
  • The app would sometimes quit unexpectedly when opening.
  • Improved support for Intel HD 3000 graphics cards in OS X El Capitan:
  • When opening images on Macs with non-Retina Displays running OS X 10.10 and 10.11, the document window was slightly taller than the image.
  • In OS X 10.11.4, when painting with brush-based tools on large images, the brush strokes would have small graphical glitches.
  • In OS X 10.11, PDFs were being exported without transparency.
  • Fixed a memory leak that occurred when exporting PDFs (and that makes Pixelmator just that little bit faster).
  • Now, when you apply any effect that adds blur to a layer, all edges that reach an edge of the canvas are blurred without transparency.
  • Fixed blur transparency at image edges.
  • When editing images with a large number of layers, the canvas would sometimes disappear.
  • Fixed missing metadata when sharing images to the Photos app.
  • The app would sometimes quit unexpectedly when applying effects that add noise – Noise, Vintage, Snow, and Rain.
  • Faster performance when moving layers in Transform mode.

Hence I would like to ask how well the Apple raw engine (which is also the basis for RAW Power) deals with Leica M(10(-R)) raw files? Has someone compared the demosaicing results with Adobe Camera Raw or Capture One.This update features minor improvements and bug fixes as well as improved Intel HD 3000 graphics card support in OS X El Capitan. For the occasional local healing, I just use Apple Photos.Īnd now I will admit that I don’t own a Leica yet, but I am saving for an M10-R. Admitted, if you need all the functionality that the Adobe suite offers, this combo may be too limited. Ok, it costs but is a lot more flexible than an Adobe subscription.

I have subscribed to a 2 TB iCloud family plan so I can even dump all my raw files in there.

I can only confirm what you’re saying: The seamless integration between the iCloud Photos Library with RAW Power is very hard to beat for those that also prefer Apple Photos as their DAM for the full availability of the full availability of the photo library on all Apple devices.

I occasionally use Pixelmator for things like ML noise reduction, face replacement, adding text or adding an effect. RP can operate directly on the Photos Library/iCloud Photo Library which makes for an efficient process. It brings more powerful RAW editing capabilities and batch editing. RawPower is an essential part of my workflow for the Q2 photos. Rambling Details: One of my main motivations was that I wanted the Photos Library/iCloud Photo Library to be my primary library since it is readily available on all my devices and easily accessible via the share button. This Photos + RawPower + Pixelmator workflow works well for me, but I never did much in PS and I'm shooting more with my iPhone than with my Q2 so I prefer a solution that seamlessly handles Live Photo, Portrait Mode, video and the various other features of the iPhone camera. But it isn't for someone who processes a high volume of photos, makes extensive use of local adjustments or does a lot of LR+PS round tripping. Executive Summary: I've been using Photos + RawPower + Pixelmator in place of LR + PS for almost a year now.
